Bizzaro The Optical Illusionist is someone I've known for a while. I felt the dire need to paint him. Bizz is someone I've known for... gosh... elleventybillion years give or take (okay, about ten). Some people found this unbelieveable and tried to start shit. But, yes... he's mah buddy. He does stage magic... yes, stage magic. But not the kind with bunnies from hats... rather he goes the vein of Penn and Teller and throws the bunny in a chipper-shreader.
You can locate his website at [link] This one is in fact very very very heavily referenced from a studio pose of his. And yes, I painted the flats over the image because I distort perspective as a personal hobby or something and I wanted it just -so- for this one. I really couldn't possibly give a damn less how people feel about that one, 'cause for some of the stuff that passes as "art"... I think a little cheating is just fine. There are a few -excruciating- tells on this one. The fold of the sleeve, the eye itself, some flubs on the hands. The face, per usual, refuses to go brush-strokey... and I know some comment is going to be like "I thot it wuz a picher!" Thanks, but really... it's not. I'll probably edit it up some more, add some cleaner, sharper, flashes... I'm not satisfied with the softness and flatness of the eye, but I was tired and we all know this smooth, flowy, shit is how I like to do things... and when you have carpel tunnel you eventually decide "That's fucking fine" and save it. NOTE: Updated on May 20 '06 at around 4:40pm. Fixed the lack of detail on the eye and whatnot. Wacom, Painter Essentials, some time. Pain, blood, sweat, tears... nakedness. Depending upon how badly I suck at messing with real media, I might do him a canvas one of these. UPDATE: WoW! Daily deviation? Holy snap! I feel slightly vindicated. For those who dropped by to "comment first" or critique even though it's discouraged... shame on you. To those that suggested it, viewed it, and faved it... well, gosh...thanky'all kindly! Bizz would be proud to know he snapped up my first (last? Only?) Daily Dev with his hotness. Daily DeviationGiven 2006-06-09Bizzaro by ~EntwinedScylla captures the magician perfectly, with the raised eyebrow "I've got a secret" look. Personally, I like the eye much more than the standard dove. (Suggested by *OibyrdsDDs and Featured by `Aeires) |

ODDS - The underground Daily Deviation since Nov26th 2005! Plz take the time to show off your favorites in YOUR journal. You can find my own personal artwork at `oibyrd! THX!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D. feature
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure (and ALSO, to show off people who I think are undeniably talented in their own genre of art, REGARDLESS of their #'s of fav's or pageviews. I like what I like and sometimes artwork isn't featured in the regular DDs because it's popular all on it's own It's a shame, but the admins are only trying to be fair! ). Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! Sandi xoxo

There are some artists who are a Favourite In Every Gallery every time they update simply because they have a following. They can literally (and I've seen it) update with a half of a scetch, and it'll be a daily favourite. Why? Is it skill? Sure, they're skilled... but that's not a skilled work. That's popularity at work, and maybe popularity is a skill and I just lack it. I'm glad (and hells yes I'm glad) that at least -someone- is going "Ooowe, Scylla does nice work"...
Yes, I feel invalidated as an artist. Sniffle. Sob. Moving on.
I've known the person featured in this deviation for nigh onto ten years. He's a damned fine guy, and I'm glad that if something's going to get attention, it's either him or Cthulhu... but preferably him... 'cause why settle for the lesser evil?
Thank you, again, very much for featuring this. *buddyjesusthumbsup*
