Have you ever heard of Furcadia? I'm sure, with the flood of Deviants posting about it... you will have now.

Furcadia is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game, primarily formatted for socialization (a big, graphical chatroom) but which comes with the tools and people required to create your OWN game. Each user has the ability to create artwork, or to organize artwork created by others into maps (called "dreams" in this game) that other players can come to and enjoy. With customizeable interfaces and coding, anyone with enough know-how (and it doesn't take a lot) can create any kind of game they want.

Furcadia is a privately owned MMOG, that has sworn to be Forever Free. That means you do not have to pay membership fees to join. There are perks (like fancy paid items, essentially costumes your character can wear to become a new species) that can be paid for, but you don't -need- them to enjoy the game. Perks, however, support this privately owned funland, and can be used to create even more amazing experiences (like "Dragon Scales" an ingame economy that has a dollar for dollar value, enabling you to buy, sell, and trade ingame safely!).

What can you find on Furcadia? Everything from Dragonriders of Pern graphical Role Play, to bars for chatting. Harry Potter, Twilight, Warriors, Dragon Adoption, Build-A-Home, and even farming! Star Trek, Star Wars, and Pokemon are all represented, too! The player-driven content makes a game which is more varried and rich than even old-salts like me expect. Four years as a dedicated player and I still find new things!

For those with mature tastes there's also an R-rated area where adult experiences can be engaged in upwards of 200 user-created areas!

Best of all? A lot of Deviant artists, including myself, have set up our own maps there. If you've ever wanted to talk, or commission, or just hang out? Here's the place. Unless my computer's down, or the server is down, I always have a character online (even if he's just setting there).
